Mohamed Abozekry

Performing October 8 + 9, 2024

Mohamed Abozekry is a Franco-Egyptian music composer, singer, and Oud virtuoso. Graduating at 15 from the Arabic Oud House in Cairo, he was the youngest oud teacher in the Arab world, and two years later, in 2009, he received the first prize at the International Oud Competition in Syria. After having had this recognition, Mohamed decided to take an alternative path to dig further by continuing his music education in classical music composition. Therefore, he moved to France at eighteen, and that’s where his career as an artist started internationally. Abozekry is part of these musicians who left their hometown early and got adopted in Europe (France) at a very young age. The battle of being back and forth between France and Egypt created a big door of inspiration for his work. So many artists met on his path, collaborations between jazz bands, gypsy, classic orchestras and electronic artists.
